We are a not-for-profit
organization with a host of volunteers including the
coaches. We have a high regard for preparing the
athletes of the future.
We have been in existence for seven years
and we serve the surrounding communities in New
Jersey: Westampton, Lumberton, Eastampton, Mt. Holly,
Mt. Laurel, Hainesport, Pemberton, Willingboro, Moorestown,
and Delran.
We incorporate strength and conditioning
in our program which is a developmental track
program. The program introduces the sport of
track and field to ages 9 thru 18.
We compete against other
South Jersey teams which include but not limited to
Medford, Marlton, Glassboro, Burlington
Township. Our main season is from March to
June. We practice at a local high school
track.
In 1999, Jean
Soult founded the Rancocas Valley Track Club in Mt. Holly,
New Jersey. She wanted to provide an alternative sport for
the children of the area and introduce them to the
fundamentals of track and field. The other thing it did was
to help children stay out of trouble and off the streets.
She had her son running before she started the club. But
the distance to get to practice and meets was daunting. So
Jean took it upon herself to start a volunteer program of
track with an age range of 5 to 18. She had over 200
children sign up. This was too much to handle for her and
her volunteers. The following year she increased the fee
and raised the age range to 9 to 18. Her first volunteer
was Ed Espenshade who has since bowed out of the club due
to medical concerns.
The first two years saw the kids competing in a
Philadelphia based series of meets which included the club
from Willingboro. RV Track Club travelled to Germantown, PA
and Newark, DE for meets. In 2001-2002, the club joined the
South Jersey Track and Field Alliance which included many
local clubs.
Many volunteers helped Jean along the way including people
who she coached at one time or another. The list of
volunteers is as follows: Ed Espenshade, John Hooper, Brett
Reburn, Keith Barr and a host of other volunteers from the
area.
Westampton Township Recreation helps support RV Track Club
by allowing us to participate in registrations at their
events. The Rancocas Valley Regional High School Board of
Education supports our efforts by allowing us the use of
the high school track.
As of today in the year 2008, we have a host of new coach
volunteers and we have built a good relationship with the
Alliance and continue to have the support of the local
townships. The year 2008 marks the establishment of the
first RV Track Club website that is supported by the
volunteer work of Tom Carroll from Bensalem, PA.
